Special Operations Forces (SOF) Week 2025 is an international conference for thought leaders, Government representatives and key military decision-makers involved in the Department of Defense (DoD). Jointly hosted by the United States Special Operations Command (SOCOM) and Global SOF, the conference platformed discussions surrounding the improvement of cybersecurity and technology within SOF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, 探花视频 and over fifty of our technology partners attended to showcase solutions in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity and much more, supporting SOCOM and DoD mission objectives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SOF Week conference featured five key themes for attendees to learn about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Leveraging Artificial Intelligence to Achieve SOF Objectives<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carahsoft.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SOF-Week-25-Blog_300x300-02.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10709\" style=\"object-fit:cover;width:300px;height:300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carahsoft.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SOF-Week-25-Blog_300x300-02.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.carahsoft.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SOF-Week-25-Blog_300x300-02-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>One of SOCOM\u2019s innovation priorities is to onboard products that have AI integrations, uncrewed and autonomous systems, power computing and quantum capabilities. In the session \u201cKeynote Address: U.S. Special Operations Command Team,\u201d speakers General Bryan P. Fenton, Commander of USSOCOM and the Command Sergeant Major Shane Shorter, Senior Enlisted Leader of the USSOCOM, discussed optimizing the computing power of adapted technology to maintain pace with adversaries. By providing the needed tools, SOCOM can help reduce the cognitive load placed on personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the session \u201cPEO Overview: Tactical Information Systems,\u201d speaker Chad Skiendsiel, the PM for Transport Systems, PEO TiS, requested multiple AI capabilities that would be useful to SOCOM operations. These are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Automation of data and containerization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Software infrastructure that enables more containerization of data and configuration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commercial solutions that can enable classified data computing as well as compute power out to the edge<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Embedded computing that can be attached to the warfighter to achieve better situational awareness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In the session \u201cFireside Chat: AI Innovation and Integration in National Security,\u201d speaker Akash Jain, CTO of Palantir discussed SOF\u2019s efforts to implement AI into SOCOM operations. One key area that requires special attention is AI integration into legacy systems, many of which have existed for years and cannot easily have AI added to enhance the work SOF does. This is why vendors with solutions, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carahsoft.com\/learn\/resource\/24675-accelerating-public-sector-transformation-leveraging-hpes-private-cloud-ai-for-your-organizations-ai-needs-today--tomorrow#resources\" target=\"_blank\" data-track=\"探花视频 - SOF Week - 2025 - Vendor 1\" rel=\"noopener\">such as Hewlett Packard Enterprise<\/a>, can be utilized to integrate AI into existing infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bolstering Cybersecurity in SOCOM Operations<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"597\" height=\"475\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carahsoft.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Panel-IV-Enhancing-SOF-Ecosystem-through-Inovation-May-8.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10712\" style=\"width:406px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carahsoft.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Panel-IV-Enhancing-SOF-Ecosystem-through-Inovation-May-8.jpg 597w, https:\/\/www.carahsoft.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Panel-IV-Enhancing-SOF-Ecosystem-through-Inovation-May-8-300x239.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.carahsoft.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Panel-IV-Enhancing-SOF-Ecosystem-through-Inovation-May-8-377x300.jpg 377w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 597px) 100vw, 597px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>One of the key themes present in SOCOM\u2019s evolving cybersecurity efforts is the adoption of a Zero Trust architecture, particularly within the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.socom.mil\/SOF-ATL\/Pages\/programs_new.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" data-track=\"探花视频 - SOF Week - 2025 - Enterprise Information Systems\" rel=\"noopener\">Enterprise Information Systems directorate<\/a>. It is referenced across multiple capability areas as essential to aligning with broader DoD cybersecurity mandates. To advance this strategy, SOCOM is actively engaging with industry and conducting assessments to define mission-driven requirements. Technology experts such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carahsoft.com\/dell\" target=\"_blank\" data-track=\"探花视频 - SOF Week - 2025 - Vendor 2\" rel=\"noopener\">Dell Technologies<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carahsoft.com\/red-hat\" target=\"_blank\" data-track=\"探花视频 - SOF Week - 2025 - Vendor 3\" rel=\"noopener\">Red Hat<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carahsoft.com\/vendors\/vmware\" target=\"_blank\" data-track=\"探花视频 - SOF Week - 2025 - Vendor 4\" rel=\"noopener\">VMware<\/a> are constantly working to be at the forefront of Zero Trust efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following this focus, the Professional Employer Organizations (PEO) is implementing cybersecurity initiatives in its contracting services. All solicitations will include cyber discipline and hygiene requirements, supply chain risk management and cybersecurity risk management requirements<strong>. <\/strong>Across the portfolio within SOCOM, post-quantum encryption is being looked at as the future strategy for cyber and will continue to develop as time goes on. The PEO SOF Digital Applications (SDA) also notes that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cisa.gov\/sbom#:~:text=SBOM)%20...-,Software%20Bill%20of%20Materials%20(SBOM),software%20supply%20chain%20risk%20management.\" target=\"_blank\" data-track=\"探花视频 - SOF Week - 2025 - SBOM\" rel=\"noopener\">CISA\u2019s Software Bill of Materials (SBOMs)<\/a> will continue to be added to its cybersecurity pipeline to ensure software is open and honest. These initiatives work to fortify existing and future cyber structures to protect the effectiveness of missions and the safety of personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As supply chains, SOF and the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) continue to be under threat from adversarial cyber-attacks, PEO Services continue working to fully implement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2023\/12\/26\/2023-27281\/cybersecurity-maturity-model-certification-cmmc-program-guidance\" target=\"_blank\" data-track=\"探花视频 - SOF Week - 2025 - CMMC\" rel=\"noopener\">CMMC guidelines<\/a> in their procedures. Fenton heavily emphasized that partnerships are key to meeting industry needs. While SOF is maintaining pace with current requirements, to stay ahead in the future, SOCOM must look to industry partners for their specialty and assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One such category of offerings is autonomous, unmanned systems promote efficiency by saving time on menial, repetitive tasks. SOCOM is looking to implement dual-usage, capable autonomous products, such as self-driving cars, drones and robots. Modeled after the Private Sector\u2019s success with unmanned systems, SOCOM agencies aim to evolve at the same speed. To enact this, all onboarded unmanned systems must be interchangeable, adaptable and successful within any region of the world to meet mission requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Importance of a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA)<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carahsoft.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SOF-Week-25-Blog_300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10707\" style=\"object-fit:cover;width:300px;height:300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carahsoft.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SOF-Week-25-Blog_300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.carahsoft.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SOF-Week-25-Blog_300x300-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>For the military, multi-domain connectivity is the way forward. Military agencies are focusing on modular open-mission systems that can be interoperable, as they are the key to staying ahead of future conflicts. Depending on industry trends and the latest in cybersecurity, equipment may need to be changed on the fly. Some technologies will need to be found preemptively; in these scenarios, industry experts can provide assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the session \u201cPEO Overview: SOF Digital Applications session,\u201d Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) was noted by every program manager as a solution. In the session \u201cKeynote Address: US Secretary of Defense,\u201d Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth spoke on the three pillars for success within the DoD and how SOCOM can reiterate and emphasize them. Among these three, the warrior ethos is targeted with the slogan, \u201chumans are more important than hardware.\u201d Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, USSOCOM Commander General Fenton, and the Chairman of the JCOS Dan Caine all echoed this point that warfighters are the most important aspect within SOF. Any person that meets warfighter standards can serve, and all purchases and developments should center the safety and wellbeing of the warfighter in mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the collaboration between people and technology, SOF is able to work securely, quickly and smoothly.
