Founded in 2025 and headquartered in California, the company was started by engineers and operators from Palantir, SpaceX, Apple, Amazon, the cybersecurity firm Tanium, and the government software provider OpenGov.

Before Common Sense, this team delivered technology for high-stakes federal, state, and local operations across intelligence, defense, justice, and public safety. The same team architected the secure cloud infrastructure behind Tanium's FedRAMP and Protected B authorizations. In those environments, security, reliability, and defensibility were never negotiable. That standard carries into everything Common Sense builds for local government.
