Critical Response Group, Inc. (CRG) was founded in 2016 by U.S. military special operations veterans who adopted a mapping technique used by elite military units to communicate in stressful environments and re-tailored it to assist with domestic emergency response to critical infrastructure. The problem we address is that site staff and first responders operate on outdated, inaccessible imagery that is not designed for communication during emergency situations, adding friction and time to the response.
CRG is based out of Hamilton Township, NJ and employs 190 personnel. We began mapping schools in NJ and neighboring states and are now the nation's largest provider of indoor mapping data, spanning work in 45 states and into segments that include large events such as The Superbowl and FIFA, hospitals and healthcare facilities, higher education campuses, and major commercial and corporate partners.
CRG maps combine floor plans, blueprints, security diagrams, a gridded overlay, updated satellite/aircraft imagery, site-specific labeling such as room and hallway designations, and locations of emergency and facility features such as AEDs, trauma kits, lockboxes, utility shutoffs, camera control rooms, and emergency pre-planning measures, into one cohesive, geo-rectified map that is purpose-built for ease of use and communication under stress. All data is verified and compiled via an in-person site visit from a CRG technician.
Once mapping files are published, they are then integrated directly into the technology platforms in use on-premise (panic buttons, camera control platforms, visitor access systems, remote lockdown systems, etc.) and into the technology platforms in use by public safety (911, law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services, emergency management, special operations, and more). CRG maps are platform-agnostic, leveraging a network of more than 200 technology providers to ensure maps are available instantly in whichever technology is already in use on-site and with first responders, rather than switching to a new tool or application.
The goal is that any responder, regardless of background or technology platform, can arrive on-scene and communicate seamlessly with adjacent response partners and site staff regarding what is happening, where they need to navigate, how best to control resources, and how to resolve the emergency (i.e. we have a violent individual outside of Building B in grid square E10 near Door 5, ground floor, east side. The nearest parking is the north Staff Lot). Reducing time with simple, effective imagery saves lives, mitigates damage, and helps restore business continuity as quickly as possible.
CRG has won multiple competitive statewide mapping awards and is trusted by tens of thousands of critical infrastructure sites and public safety agencies. All projects include training and support from military special operations veterans, public safety professionals, and GIS technicians, up to and including tabletops and full-scale exercises.
