AI Body Camera Analysis to Improve Performance, Safety, and Public Trust

Body-worn camera (BWC) video is your agency’s largest and most important source of data.  TrustStat AI transforms that data into actionable information you can use to optimize performance, reduce liability, and strengthen public trust.  We built TrustStat on the idea that police agencies need to harness the power of video just like winning sports teams.  Pro sports teams systematically review their game footage to coach and improve performance, and to identify and reinforce the tactics that lead to more wins and fewer losses. With TrustStat, you can strengthen your agency’s performance by doing what these winning teams do.

TrustStat is the only AI system that analyzes video and audio of both officers and citizens using technology that has been independently validated by multiple US DOJ funded studies.  TrustStat automatically reviews your agency’s BWC video and identifies the patterns, trends, and events that matter most for both officer and public safety.  From fast, objective video reviews for sergeants and FTOs to tracking agency-wide trends in officer interactions for command staff, TrustStat uses BWC video to strengthen efficiency and effectiveness across all aspects of operations, training, and administration.

TrustStat™ is flexibly designed to analyze BWC video in ways that support your agency’s unique priorities. Whether you want to improve the speed and accuracy of supervisory review of BWC video, identify and mitigate patterns of risk, or identify the tactics most likely to result in the safe de-escalation of high-risk situations, TrustStat can help.

TrustStat meets strict security and CJIS standards, and is securely located on Microsoft Azure GovCloud.  TrustStat transcribes and analyzes your BWC videos using a proprietary combination of different AI tools, and produces actionable, easy-to-understand results displayed on dashboards and in reports customized to your agency.

TrustStat is flexibly designed to fit the needs and budget of any sized agency.  You only pay for the number of cameras we analyze, not the total number of sworn personnel at your agency.  That means you can deploy TrustStat™ in cost-effective ways that let you tailor the system to your unique requirements and budget.

Developed by a team of police veterans and human performance scientists, TrustStat is your agency’s key to unlocking the potential of BWC video.  If your agency wants to get more value out of your BWC video, let’s talk.

FAQ

Is TrustStat accurate?

TrustStat AI has been successfully validated in multiple independent studies funded by the U.S. federal government. These studies consistently found that video analysis results from TrustStat significantly agree with results from human reviewers.  In addition to its general accuracy, TrustStat isn’t affected by factors like fatigue, distraction, personal bias, and subjective opinion, which limit even the best human reviewers.

Does TrustStat 鈥渟core鈥 or rate officers?

No.  TrustStat analyzes incidents, not officers. TrustStat identifies important patterns and events in the language and behavior of both officers and civilians in BWC videos. TrustStat also assesses the relative difficulty of each situation.  For example, it is much easier for an officer to interact with a polite, cooperative motorist on a minor traffic stop compared to dealing with a drunk, combative suspect on a domestic violence call.  TrustStat cannot determine who is right or wrong, or whether an officer’s actions are “good” or “bad.”  Rather, TrustStat gives human experts the accurate information they need to make assessments and decisions that cannot and should not be made by AI.

How were the algorithms in TrustStat trained?

The algorithms in TrustStat were trained using a wide variety of data from police, military, national security, and other sources.  Since we are actively involved in a range of federal research activities, we are continuously testing and improving our algorithms to ensure that TrustStat performs as accurately as possible.

Who owns my data?

Your agency owns all of the data generated by TrustStat.

Are data and results from TrustStat subject to public disclosure?

Public disclosure laws vary widely among states and jurisdictions.  Only your agency, not Polis, has the legal authority to handle public disclosure requests related to TrustStat data and results.  We can customize TrustStat to ensure that your agency is protecting your legal interests and the privacy rights of your officers, while also meeting all legal and policy requirements for public transparency and accountability.
